Turkey Bird

Thanksgiving preparations have begun in earnest. My plan this year is to cook like a mad woman on Wednesday so that I can actually spend more than just the meal time outside of the kitchen. This means that I will be cooking the turkey on Wednesday, too. I will carve it and put it in the crock pot to be reheated on Thursday. Its a brilliant idea! I took the beast out of the freezer yesterday. Wanna see?

This is the smaller of the 2 turkeys we raised. It was hard to weigh it but it weighs in the range of 23lbs. I know that it isn’t an enormous turkey. However, I really think that it is so cool that we raised it! I certainly hope that no one that is at our table takes an appetite suppressant beforehand. We don’t really have enough people coming to warrant such a large bird so they need to eat plenty!

I have decided to inject the turkey with “stuff” so I bought an injector kit and some “stuff”.

I hope that it tastes okay. I haven’t ever done this with my store bought birds. They usually come already injected. I just want to avoid a dry turkey and I want to add some flavor. Hopefully this turns out!
