My birthday is coming up in a couple of weeks and I will be entering a whole new decade of life. Yep, on November 13th, I will be 40 years old. But the 13th of November is special for a whole other reason that also has to do with aging. It is National Memory Screening Day. Just a week ago, I would not have thought about having my memory checked at the age of 40 to screen for Alzheimer’s and other related illnesses. But, then I talked to a woman whose husband was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in his late 40’s and is now nearing the end of his life 10 years later. So I am considering finding a local memory screening location and I encourage you to do the same. This is a simple thing to do when you visit NationalMemoryScreening.Org. Sometimes memory loss can be attributed to lack of sleep, vitamin deficiencies, thyroid problems or depression. A screening can help figure out exactly why you might be experiencing memory loss. Regardless of the reason behind your memory loss, even if it is Alzheimer’s or dementia, early detection is a key to treating it. While there is no cure for Alzheimer’s, the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America continues to do research to find the cure. It is a great organization to support with your donations. And of course, there are a lot of tips to aging successfully at NationalMemoryScreening. I encourage you to check out this website for lots of great information on memory.
