It will not be long and we will be butchering chickens again. Tom and I are hoping to find an couple old farmhouse sinks to incorporate into an outdoor gutting and packaging station. This would keep the mess (not to mention the smell) out of the house and make cleanup so much easier. I have been watching Freecycle in the hopes of finding something there. I haven’t had any luck yet. Chances are that we will have to continue doing the gutting and processing of the birds in the house this year. We would really like to have a complete outdoor setup by next year though.
Now here are our birds as of last week. They are growing so fast! I think it seems to be going quicker because we got them at an older age. They are at their ugly stage when they are growing faster than their feathers can come in.
