Goliath

Just about a year ago my girls came racing into the house with a couple of cold, newborn kittens. They had been abandoned by their mother and a littermate was already dead. So I made up some kitten formula and proceeded to become mother to these 2 kittens. I was up during the night and everything. It was just like having a couple of newborns. I looked like I needed some of the best best wrinkle creams to get ride of my dark circles and bags! Despite my best efforts the little girl kitten died. I am certain neither of the kittens had gotten any colostrum so my hopes for them were never very high. However, the “little” boy kitten thrived. In fact, he was so NOT little we called him Goliath. Here he is at about 6 weeks sucking down his bottle.

Today he is my baby and spends his day laying behind my laptop or under my feet as I work. He is still a huge cat that reminds me a lot of a Maine Coon cat. He has the big feet and bushy tail of the Main Coon. But in all reality he is just a barn cat. Here he is today.

Apparently my camera is a toy? He thought so anyway.

He always looks this ticked off.

I can’t believe that it has been nearly a year since I held his cold, damp body in my hand and tried to get him to eat. And just for the record he still eats way more than any cat should and still keeps his girlish figure!
