Somehow on Wednesday I became the mother of a 16 year old boy. Really, how in the world is that possible??? I am quite sure that 16 years haven’t passed since I laid for nearly a day in that hospital bed bringing him into this world. He woke up Wednesday morning in the livingroom. (I’ll explain that in a minute.) I promptly took these pictures.
I did get a smile when I teased him about not looking!
Anymore most kids get a car for their 16th birthday. Back in my day it was only the really well-off kids that got cars for their birthday. Now it is mostly just expected. We did not get him a car for his birthday. That was taken care of by our former youth leader. She gave him her old, but still running, car. So yesterday I called to get insurance quotes. It wasn’t as bad as I thought. Completely doable in fact. Whew!
Back to why Clint was sleeping in the livingroom. We decided to paint his room for his birthday. He has always wanted a Chicago Cubs room so that is what we gave him. I spent days working in his room and by the evening of his birthday I finally got it done! I made up his bed and it was ready for him when he got home from basketball practice. It looks great and he was thrilled to be sleeping in his own room again.
He had ordered some Fatheads as soon as he knew I was going to be painting. They came yesterday and Clint immediately put them up. They really finish off the room!
(Yes, he is still asleep in bed when I took these pictures!)
Clint told me that he had a really good birthday. I’m glad that his 16th birthday was a good one for him!
