This is the day for book reviews, I guess. Melina has also been enjoying a copy of Snow Take the Checker! by Demi Knight Clark.
This is a cute story about Snow the Racehorse. He isn’t a racehorse in the traditional sense. He is more like a mix between a race car and a race horse. That was a bit confusing for my daughter who understands horse racing. Snow teams up with his buddy Tuga the turtle to race the Animal 500. They use teamwork and good sportsmanship as they race around the track. Robbie the Race Raccoon is the nemesis that works against them during the race.
This book demonstrates great morals for kids to use in sports and in life. The illustrations are okay and the dialogue is a bit annoying for adults. Melina said it was an okay book. I am not sure that this book is one that will be pulled out and read very often However, I do think that this is a book that is more geared towards boys. I am sure they would love to read about the horse that races more like a car.
