Now, right along with the spring garden planning we are also planning for our spring chickens. This year I am on a chick buying restriction. I am only supposed to buy meat chicks and a couple of turkey poults. No other chicks will be gracing our farm. However, just like the best best acne treatments can still result in a break through so can restrictions. I mean, really, who can pass up buying a couple of those really cute ducklings or those little teeny banty chicks? We may get Jasmine started on a small banty flock. She has always been interested in those tiny chickens and we have the materials to make a small coop just for them. And, I do want to replace my blue Swedish drake that got killed. And I wouldn’t mind having a couple more duck hens. The only problem with buying ducks or banties from the farm store is you never know if you are getting girls or boys. But the luck of the draw is sort of exciting. And I will NOT be buying any laying chickens at all! I have more than I want right now so that part of the restriction I will stay firm on!
